I Remember Me – The Mom Chronicles is a moving memoir and caregiving guide about a family’s journey with Alzheimer’s disease, written by first-time author Lori Aden, who holds a doctorate in education from Walden University.
This book is a compilation of day-to-day experiences using humor and raw emotions. The author shares lessons learned and mistakes made along the way while caregiving for a loved one living with memory issues. General information about the stages of Alzheimer’s from leading sources coupled with a caregiver’s point of view is shared in an easy-to-read format. To provide a personal view of the disease progression, the author added short video clips of her mother using QR code technology.

While being the primary caregiver for my mom, we learned so much about Alzheimer’s. I chronicled the journey with my mom through the Mom Chronicles with my friends and family on social media. I researched various reputable resources, followed various Alzheimer’s caregiving groups, and completed the EssentialALZ Alzheimer’s Association Training.
Do you have other books published about Alzheimer’s?Yes. My sister and I co-wrote two childen’s book series called Grandma Is Acting Funny and Grandpa is Acting Funny. Both cover the three main stages of Alzheimer’s from a child’s point of view.
Why did you write a children’s book series?
While doing our research, we noticed that there are not many children’s books on Alzheimer’s. The ones out there are limited in what they could explain within the confines of a single book. We realized that just one book would be too large to try and explain all the various behaviors throughout the three major stages. Because it takes many years to go through the stages, children will see various behaviors throughout the years. We broke the series down into the Beginning, Middle, and Late stages that coincide with how most organizations and medical personnel label them. This series allows a family to choose the most appropriate stage their loved one is experiencing. Families also come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, so we decided to illustrate this series with a whimsical dragon family so that no child will feel left out because their grandma didn’t look like the grandma depicted in the book.

Yes! We are excited to share that Book 1 of the Grandma is Acting Funny series won the Royal Dragonfly Book Award – Honorable Mention for Children’s Picture Books 5 and Younger.
